Lord Huron Steps Away From the Urban Jungle of L.A. To Create Hazy Tropical Pop
Lord Huron is the brainchild of Ben S. who, in the spring of 2010, escaped the gridlock of Los Angeles to return to the shores of Lake Huron in northern Michigan where he spent much of his childhood. During his R&R, he recorded some songs, three of which because Lord Huron’s first EP, Into The Sun. Returning to L.A., Ben S. recruited fellow Michigan transplants to round out the Lord Huron line up.
The songs have a tropical hazy quality to them, as if Animal Collective traded their electronic blips and bloops for acoustic guitars and steel drums. The Into The Sun EP is available to stream and download from Lord Huron’s Bandcamp Page, and L.A. label Hit City U.S.A. will release a 7” with two of the tracks from the EP later this month. Lord Huron’s second EP, Mighty, releases November 2nd as both a CD and digital release. After a stint at New York’s CMJ Festival next week, Lord Huron returns to L.A. for some dates around town.
