Brandon Flowers’ First Solo Single Gets Caught Up in an Internet “Crossfire”

Crossfire, the first single off of Brandon Flowers’ solo LP, Flamingo, received its world premiere when it debuted on 101.9 RXP, The New York Rock Experience this past Friday morning.  The broadcast sparked an Internet frenzy, and by mid-afternoon, the web was flooded with the leaked track, much to the chagrin of Flowers’ label, Island Records.

The song is reminiscent of Flowers’ work with The Killers, with its stadium scope and anthem scale, but he stretches his vocal range on Crossfire, to include a delicate falsetto.  The single is set for release in late June, and the album, Flamingo, is tentatively set for a September release.

Brandon Flowers Taps Fellow Las Vegas Native Jenny Lewis for Duet on Upcoming Solo LP

On April 29th, Brandon Flowers announced big news via The Killers Official Website – he was going solo.  After an extended tour in support of Day & Age, the rest of The Killers decided to go on “indefinite hiatus,” but Flowers, whose mother passed away in early February after a two-year battle with brain cancer, was not ready to sit back and relax.  He wanted to continue working, and his up-coming solo album Flamingo gave him that opportunity.
