Timbre Tantrum

Mum’s the word.  IAMSOUND Records closes out their month-long Monday night residency at The Echo tonight with a top secret headliner (rumors indicate a certain IAMSOUND-signed collective that weaves together Western pop aesthetics with African rhythms and melodies).  The IAMSOUND-curated line-ups have been solid throughout December, so expectations are high.  Joining the mystery guest(s) on stage are psychedelic septet Shadow Shadow Shade, mystical man Evan Voytas, and the bluesy grit of Rumspringa.

Tonight’s show is FREE, and 21+, with doors at 8:30 PM.

IAMSOUND Records takes over Monday nights in December at L.A.’s The Echo curating a bill of their favorite local performers.  First on the docket are headliners IO Echo, who in their recent introduction to the L.A. music scene have already opened for acts such as Florence + The Machine, La Roux, Hot Chip, and Nine Inch Nails during their last performance.  IO Echo is also joined on the stage by Haim, White Arrows, and unnamed special guests.

Tonight begins KITTEN’s headlining residency at The Echo.  For the next three Tuesday’s, you can catch Los Angeles’ own KITTEN with a variety of openers as they perform in support of their newly released debut EP, Sunday School. For additional info about KITTEN, check out the interview we did with them back in May.

Doors open at 8:00 PM, and the show is $8 and all ages.

Tonight, psychedelic garage rockers, The Black Apples, continue their November Monday night residency at The Echo, joined this evening by LA Font, Oh Darling, and So Many Wizards.  The Colorado natives stay true to the genre with songs replete with shouting vocals and aggressive guitar licks, but the band finds balance with a few mid-tempo surf-rock-tinged gems.

As always, the Monday night residencies at The Echo are FREE and 21+ only.  Doors at 8:30 PM.
