Wavves front man, Nathan Williams, has come to claim his crown, and all the spoils that go with it: weed, your own form of currency, weed, major bling, weed, and bedazzled and branded bongs and grinders. It’s every stoner’s dream. And of course, a king’s daily travails wouldn’t be complete without video games, getting “king”-emblazoned tattoos, and a tour along his expansive sandy kingdom.
Check out the Focus Creeps-directed video for “King of the Beach,” below, with a cameo from the omnipresent Wavves / Best Coast mascot, Snacks the Cat.
Best Coast’s cat obsession continues strong in the new video for “Crazy For You,” the title track off the band’s debut album. The video features a cat in the director’s chair – literally, as well as other felines manning the camera and craft services duties.
The video is presented in conjunction with the I Can Has Cheezburger website, which is also running a “Caption Snacks” Contest, where the best captions win a bunch of band swag from both Best Coast and Wavves. One grand prize winner also wins tickets to a concert of their choice on the Best Coast/Wavves “Summer is Forever” tour, and a meet and greet with both acts.

Last night, Wavves played an intimate record release gig at illustrious punk rock and new wave music venue, Madame Wong’s. The air was stale, the floor was packed tight, and the line for the single unisex bathroom was long. A glorified house party, the space held only 200+ lucky attendees, who scored tickets from TicketWeb during the few hours that passed between on sale and sold out. Read the rest of this entry →
Harder. Faster. Louder. Wavves’ Nathan Williams abides by the punk rock code of conduct, but puts his own sun-worshipping So-Cal-centric spin on the equation. Blending Beach Boys-style falsettos, four-chord power-pop, and pervasive self-loathing, King of the Beach, finds a balance between lo-fi grit and pop-punk accessibility. Read the rest of this entry →
